While keeping it dry is one consideration, another is picking a dog bed outdoor style that will keep them warm. There are some of beds that are constructed using stuffing that works to retain heat, and others you'll have to fill yourself using items like old cloths or hay. Whatever you pick, it will need to keep the dog's outdoor bed as warm as possible.

The downside is that the bed will need to be able to be near an outdoor outlet to be plugged in, and if you aren't careful this could lead to a potential fire hazard.

Durability is also a very important issue. Make sure that the bed is strong enough to not only survive the weather but also anything that your furry friend might throw its way. Since the item is outdoors you'll want to make sure that you keep an eye out for a stray cat or other animal that might be marking its territory.
Again, after you've decided on the right style of bedding materials, you will need to also focus on the area in which the bed will stay. It is important that it remains as protected from the weather as possible, but in a location easily accessible to the dog. Look for a semi-secluded spot that your pet likes to sleep in and they should start utilizing it immediately.
